The ECE program prepares future educators with the knowledge and skills required to provide high quality early learning and care. Course topics include how to establish and maintain positive relationships with children and families, how to assess children's development, and how to design developmentally appropriate curriculum and environments in accordance with provincial legislation. Creating high quality education programs that support the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of children from infancy to twelve years of age is emphasized. Students will have the opportunity to connect course theory with real world practice during field practicum in community early learning and care centres, EarlyON sites, and elementary schools, among others.

Half-Day, Semester-Based Schedule

The Early Childhood Education program follows a semester-based structure with half-day classes, offering students a consistent and supportive learning experience. This schedule helps you stay engaged and focused throughout each semester while maintaining balance with personal and family responsibilities. The structured format provides a clear academic path as you develop the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to begin a meaningful career in early learning and care.

On-the-Job Experience

As part of the Early Childhood Education program, you will complete field practicums in licensed early learning settings. These supervised placements allow you to apply what you have learned in the classroom, gain hands-on experience working with children, and develop professional skills under the guidance of experienced educators. This real-world experience helps prepare you for a confident transition into the workforce upon graduation.
